چکیده
Abstract This article discusses the incidence, applied anatomy and classification of paediatric femoral fractures based on critical appraisal available evidence. The aim is to identify techniques that are relevant contemporary practice whilst excluding technical details individual procedures beyond scope this review. Injuries proximal, diaphyseal distal segments considered individually as there considerations specific each anatomical site. Femoral neck rare injuries require prompt reduction stable fixation minimise potentially devastating consequences avascular necrosis. Diaphyseal relatively common, a spectrum management options depend patient age size. Distal often involve physis, which contributes up 70% length. Growth arrest common consequence in region, resulting angular length-related deformity. Long-term surveillance recommended deformity evolution provide an opportunity for early intervention. Deliberate injury should be all fractures, particularly physeal non-walking child.

The management of paediatric diaphyseal femoral fractures: a modern approach
The definitive treatment of paediatric femoral diaphyseal fractures remains controversial. Modalities of treatment vary mostly according to age, with fracture pattern and site having a lesser impact. Current evidence is reflective of this variation with most evidence cited by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons being level 4 or 5. The authors present a review of the most up-to-date evid...
متن کاملPaediatric hip fractures: a systematic review of incidence, treatment options and complications.
Hip fractures in children are rare; when not properly treated, they can be disastrous for the growing child. We present the incidence, causes, treatment options and possible complications. A good understanding of classification and treatment options is of great importance to minimize complications. A clear evidence-based algorithm, however, cannot be proposed. Further multi-centre studies shoul...
متن کاملCurrent Concepts in Paediatric Femoral Shaft Fractures
Pediatric femoral shaft fractures account for less than 2% of all fractures in children. However, these are the most common pediatric fractures necessitating hospitalization and are associated with prolonged hospital stay, prolonged immobilization and impose a significant burden on the healthcare system as well as caregivers. In this paper, the authors present a comprehensive review of epidemio...
متن کاملTreatment Options for Distal Femoral Fractures.
INTRODUCTION Due to their high complication rate and negative impact of those complications upon the knee and the whole lower limb, distal femoral fractures require optimal restoration of the functional anatomy and stable fixation thus allowing early recovery. This paper presents the experience of the authors regarding the indications and results of the most accepted surgical methods, including...
متن کاملPaediatric Emergence Agitation: Management Options
Emergence Agitation (EA) is a common postoperative problem especially in children. It is more common in paediatric age group especially with low blood gas solubility inhalational agents like Sevoflurane and Desflurane. Other factors contributing to increase EA are head and neck surgeries, preoperative anxiety and pain. It increases the risk of postoperative physical trauma to patient like surgi...
